Four Hurricanes and One Earthquake in Two Months; Are We Nearing the Apocalypse?

  1. Hypolytus of Rome. This Christian theologian teamed up with two others and predicted Christ would return in during the year 500 AD. They used the dimensions of Noah’s Arc to keep their prophesy afloat (sorry, couldn’t help myself).
  2. Charles Tuze Russell. The first president of the Jehovah’s Witnesses predicted Christ would return in 1874.
  3. Joseph Smith. The founder of the Mormon Church picked 1891 for Christ’s arrival.
  4. Jerry Falwell. Famous Fundamentalists preacher picked a ten-year period (1999–2009) for his prognostication.
  5. Jack Van Impe. Televangelist has kept moving his dates after they passed. His latest prediction for Armageddon was 2012.
  6. Guillermo Vidal. Yours truly, predicts the end of the world will happen someday.
  1. East Africa Drought of 2011. The subsistence of over 9.5 million people was threatened. Millions died.
  2. Tōhoku, Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011. It killed 15,894 people and injured 6,152. Thousands are still missing. Over 127,000 buildings completely destroyed and over 272,000 buildings “half collapsed”. It also caused a partial meltdown in 3 reactors of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, making this the 2nd largest nuclear disaster after Chernobyl.
  3. Haiti Earthquake of 2010. Left over 200,000 deaths, 2 million homeless, and 3 million people in need of emergency aid.
  4. Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Over 2000 killed and hundreds of thousands left scattered far and wide. It was also one of the costliest natural disasters with estimated property damages of over $81 billion.
  5. Pakistan Earthquake in 2005. The official death toll was 75,000 people with 106,000 people injured.
  6. North Korea Famine 1994–1998. Over 3,500,000 died.
  7. Yangtze River Floods in Southern China in 1931. It killed 3,700,000 people.
  8. Spanish Flu in 1918. It killed 100 million people throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
  9. Black Plague Epidemic 1345–1351. It wiped out over 60% of Europe’s entire population in a three-year period.
